Sertino's Cafe- Smithtown
Hi Ladies!
So I've been going bonkers in planning my daughters 1st birthday party. I could not find a place for the life of me that would be affordable and hold the 100 or so people we're inviting. So I actually booked two places... i'll need to cancel one of them.
J&R's in Stony Brook is the first place. Its affortable and has a nice room but the place itself looks rundown and dirty.
The other place is Sertinos Cafe in Smithtown. Its similar Panera Bread. Its not your typical catering location. They will make a buffet of a variety of sandwiches both breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Which restauraunt would you choose? Sertinos is almost half the price of J&Rs.At Sertinos, they will be sending their outside guests to their meeting room which is glass and located in the center of the restauraunt. My party would be sourounding the meeting room. They said we could decorate and have enterainment if we choose. I"m so nervous that people arent going to enjoy Sertinos food as its not your typical "catered" food. What do you think?

I saw go with Sertino's. Just because the food will be different doesnt mean everyone won't enjoy it! I happen to love when it's not your typical seafood, meat and poultry type of food selection

I wouldn't pick either. Ive eaten at j&rs and both times had bad experiences. The food is not good. As for sertinos, i wouldn't be crazy about the outside guests being in a glass room in the center of my party. Kinda awkward. Good luck!

I agree. Having eaten at sertinos I couldn't imagine liking that setup for a party.

The only hestitation I would have about Sertino's is the glass room. Will they be able to rope off your party from the general dining that's going on.
Is the glass room a possibility, or is it to small to accommodate your party? I think the glass room, if big enough, would be a better solution, as it would keep your guests in one central area.

I agree with the don't pick either crew. J&R's is totally not kid birthday like and having people in the middle of a party is just weird.
