Sensitive DS

My DS is 6 years old and can so sensitive some times. He can be either moody or sensitive. He really is the sweetest boy and passive (except when it comes to his brother). He's starting to get a little more assertive and will stick up for himself or use his voice when playing, but then there are other times he cries for small things.

I have him in Karate and soccer, which he loves. He does have lots of friends. I work with him on letting things go and what is worth crying over. If you're really hurt, etc.

Anyone else have a sensitive DS?

Saturday morning when we got to soccer he started crying for no reason he didn't want to play. The coaches and even teammates tried to help. Finally stopped and then played and was fine. He told me he won't do it again and he does love soccer. Then this morning for no reason he started to cry when the bus came. He has a cold he's getting over so I have been giving him tissues. Forgot this morning so when he asked about them I told him his cold is gone so he doesn't need it then he took a step on the bus and started to cry. He goes through phases too. He will be fine and then go through a phase where he's a momma's boy and gets sad if I go out with friends.

Sensitive DS

While I do not have a sensitive DS I do have a 3 yr old sensitive dd. And while shes still young I can tell shes sensitive and going to continue to be that way.
I too am teaching her about having a voice and being able to say no thank you if she doesn't want to do something. or even give a hug to a friend.
I try to talk to her (again I know shes a bit young so she doesn't totally get it but I can tell some of the message gets through) I talk her through what shes feeling. What made her sad, angry or feel mushy. What is making her feel like she doesn't want me to leave. Does she know that I am coming back. and so on.
She goes through phases of being sooo attached to me I cannot even go to the store for 20 min without hearing how hysterical shes getting because Im leaving.
And other times she is like ok bye mommy...

Again I constantly reiterate things to her:
mommy always comes back
you will have fun (playing with grandma or going to school, etc)

And I just talk her through her feelings. I ask questions and try not to lead because at 3 she will just agree with what I tell her lol and then I never know the real reason. I just ask are you sad? are you scared? are you nervous?

Maybe he is a little anxiety and some days are better than others... Could it be a bad night of sleeping leads to a bad day (happens to my dd all the time)
Like try to notice if theres a pattern or trigger. Sleep? Something he eats? (if my dd has too much sugar shes a NUT I mean tantrums and outbursts just bad and for NO reason whatsoever)
