Semen Analysis...

Dh does not really want to have this done. He feels uncomfortable going to an office to "perform"...has anyone had this issue? Any suggestions??

He can "perform" at home as long as he can get it to the office within an hour. Maybe he'd feel more comfortable knowing that.

I can understand how it's a tough thing for a guy, but maybe you can gently remind him that you are (or will be) poked and prodded on a weekly basis: internal sonos, blood draws, HSG, meds with painful side effects... This is a tough process, and if you really want a LO at the end of it, you both have to be "all in." It's not pretty, but it's necessary, and the end result is worth it.

I can totally understand DH feeling nervous about it, it's funny because my DH wasn't scared at all and I was the one freaking out about it.

The only advice I can give is that tons of guys have to go get this done, and everyone in the office is used to it and they try to make it extremely discreet and comfortable for the patient.

Like Dava said, he can always do "it" at home and just drop it off. Just make sure he gets there within 45 mins. The other option is he can have the semen removed, but try explaing that process and see how quick he is to opt for the "self love" method. Good luck!!

see if you can find a lab nearby and he can make the sample at home. he just needs the sterile cup and the R/X and the ability to get it to the lab within an hour. DH and I had fun making his

Honestly, it's just something he has to get over. As women, there's so much we have to endure between constant monitoring, in many cases injections, etc... I don't mean to minimize it for a man, but really a semen analysis is very non invasive and the labs see these things come in literally daily!

He can do his business at home as long as you get the sample to the lab within the hour. He will probably feel more comfortable that way!

Good luck! Honestly I find perspective around these things change so vastly from one step to the next. I remember I used to hate needles and was nervous about getting my blood drawn the first time at the RE's office at my initial consult. Now I use injections at home for my stim cycle- this cycle I used them almost every night for 2wks! It's just something you grow accustomed to.. whether it be SA .. internal sonos during AF.. etc.. One way or another, you do what you gotta do and keep in mind, you are not the first and certainly mot the last to walk this path! The lab workers.. drs.. etc.. have seen this alllllll before!!

My DH was nervous about this as well. Like the others said, he can do it at home and then one of you can bring it to the lab. I know for DH, he was very nervous because he was afraid the results wouldn't be great.

I don't know why I didn't realize they would have porn, I didn't even think they would have a sweet little set up for the guys. I told DH you are probably going to have to do it in the bathroom, and Dr. B's office's bathroom is right in the waiting room.. and what if someone knocks.. I was FREAKING out over it.. and he just said ok calm down I'm sure they have a room for it.. and luckily they do!

Did he have it done at Dr. B's office?
