Self-Pity Party Here!

I'm just feeling fat and scared today.

I am almost 37 weeks. My due date is the 16th. If I have to have a C-section, I'll go on the 11th.

So I realize, I don't have many days left and the end is near and who cares about weight because I am going to have an amazing beautiful baby girl with me here soon...

but...

25 pounds?!? I have broken the 25 lb mark and am still getting bigger by the day (it feels like by the second!!!). I am very, very short so every pound is a big burden on me.

I just can't imagine what I am going to weigh when I go into the hospital. Maybe my mind is distracting me with weight worries to get my mind off the fact that I might have to endure an unwanted C-section. ( Chat Icon ) I really wanted a vaginal birth and am so terrified of having a c-section.

Ok. Vent Over.

I'm only 5'1" and I gained over 30lbs with DS it happens, don't worry you'll loose it! As far as the C/S I had one because I didn't have a choice, DS was breech the entire pregnancy and they couldn't try to turn him since he had a cord around his neck. Recovery wasn't that bad form me, just do whatever is best for your LO Chat Icon Chat Icon

Self-Pity Party Here!

My SIL gained 85 lbs with her first. He's 6 1/2 now and she's in better shape than I'll ever be.

Your body does what it needs to do when it's pregnant. STOP LOOKING AT THE SCALE. No one weighed me when I got to the hospital. No one cares about your weight but you, and you can deal with that later!!!! When you're completely ravenous PP, don't you DARE think about the scale, and you eat every morsel you crave to get your strength and energy and stamina back to care for that little baby!!!!!! THAT'S AN ORDER!!!!!!

The c section thing scares the bejeesus out of me too, but it happens and everyone gets through it. Worrying is just a misuse of imagination. Take it as it comes.

Kelly Ripa always says that she gained 90 lbs when pregnant. She is teeny tiny and looks great now!!

Don't worry about the weight, I think 25-30 lbs is the perfect amount.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I gained 25lbs already and I'm only 23 weeks. I'm letting my body do what it has to. When I start feeling bad about it, I just remind myself that the doctor said I'm fine and the most important thing is the baby is doing fine. Weight can come off!!

I don't think 25 pounds is a lot at all... I know tons of girls that gained way more than that.... I understand how you feel though... I gained about 25 and now also developed some stretch marks and I'm 5'9 usually a size 4 or 6. The end is near!!! You can make it and don't beat yourself up about it!

25 pounds is totally normal! I gained that much and am only 28 weeks along!

My friend just had her baby about two weeks ago - she lost 10 pounds when her LO was born, and an additional 10 pounds the following week (she had gained a lot of water-weight and was swollen).

As for the CS, don't over-stress about it. Although it's not an ideal situation, if the doctors think it's needed, then it's better than the alternative risks! I'll send labor vibes regardless in hopes you can have a vaginal birth!

I keep hearing that gaining between 25 and 35 lbs is normal, so it sounds like you gained the perfect amount. It know it seems like a lot But think how much of it is the baby, placenta, amniotic fluid, larger breasts. It's really not much fat at all.

you def shouldn't sweat 25lbs. youll prob lose at least 10 on the day you deliver.. 25 is so not a big deal at all. i know it feels like a lot when you are the one wearing it, but you really could be SO much worse off!! be thankful!

Honestly, my docs havent said one thing about the weight gain. I'm just going to pray that most of the weight is lost with evacuation...and whats not, I will be working to lose on my own. DD & I will be going for lots of neighborhood walks this fall.

Re: Self-Pity Party Here!

thanks girls for making me feel a bit better.

I honestly think my fear of a c-section and the scar/permanent body change from surgery just redirected me to be upset over my weight. Hopefully this baby will turn and I can cancel the c-section. I know I have to suck it up if she doesn't... but I am truly terrified of the procedure and everything that follows it.

Re: Self-Pity Party Here!

You have to realize that most of the weight you gain is water weight along with extra blood/fluids plus baby. A 25 lb gain is fantastic but I know it must feel like a lot being short in stature. You will lose most of it the moment you give birth and in the days following. I gained 50lbs in the end with HBP issues and I felt the same way. Best wishes on your birth with your LO!! So exciting!!

Re: Self-Pity Party Here!

I gained 85lbs and 5 wks pp I'm down 40 of them with very little effort. It happens. I never went crazy or had cravings or anything. No matter what I did I gained.

I also had to have a cs - baby was frank breech and despite ALL efforts she never flipped. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. If you have any questions FM me. Chat Icon

I have a few friends who has a CS and look phenomenal.. I guess it depends on the Dr, the baby size and situation. Chat Icon Wishing you all the best!

I bet you are all belly! I know it sucks seeing the scale go up at every appointment but it will go away!

I am like you and scared of having to have a c/s as well. Not of the actual surgery but of the recovery.

Don't think about the scale! Remember that if you starve yourself, you're also starving your baby. Don't do anything dangerous now.

After you give birth you'll have plenty of opportunity to drop the weight...and most of it happens just by giving birth!

I gained 45 lbs with both pregnancies. With my first, I lost it all by 6-8 weeks PP. This time, I'm 2 weeks PP and already down 34 lbs. I wouldn't stress about it. Chat Icon I wish I only gained 25 lbs. Chat Icon
