Seeing dr b fruday
Both DH and I went on Saturday for the karyotyping test to see if we have the translocation problem. We are going in on Friday to talk to dr b, he might now have those test results back yet but since there is no treatment for that it doesnt really matter if he has it that day. He said by Friday he will have had enough time to go through my chart (it's big!) and have both embryo lab finished going back over each embie we've ever had to see if they find anything else. Either way we are starting another ivf cycle on cd3. I'm hoping he can figure out something

Re: Seeing dr b fruday
Good luck with your appointment. I hope you get some answers soon.
I wanted to let you know that I have a balanced chromosomal translocation. That was Dr. B's initial diagnosis as to what was causing my problems conceiving. After he found that I had the translocation, he had my parents and sister get karyotyped as well. My mom didn't have it, and Quest lost my dad's blood test or something ridiculous, but we discovered that my sister had the same exact translocation as me, which means that my dad also has it. Since my sister had no trouble conceiving her two sons, Dr. B said that most likely it wasn't the cause of my problems, so the new working diagnosis is PCOS.
The actual point of me sharing that is that when he still thought that the translocation was the main cause of my problems, he said that one way or another I WOULD have a baby, either through continuing to try on our own, or through IVF. It may take time, but he was confident that we would have a baby.

Re: Seeing dr b fruday
Thanks for sharing! It's weird bc I could swear we were already tested for this but apparently there is nothing in my chart. I'm going to question Dr B again about that on Friday bc I feel like if I'm mistaken and wasn't tested for this, why?? I know we don't present like a typical translocation case but after all this time of trying I would think this wouldn't bs the only test left out kwim? Anyway I know we will have another baby one day, I will continue with ivf so that I have many more chances each cycle to get the "good embie". What's your plan right now?

Re: Seeing dr b fruday
I think it would be weird if you weren't already karyotyped, b/c that was part of the whole slew of tests I went for when I started seeing Dr. B, and there was nothing to suggest that I would have a translocation. At our initial consult, he said that I sounded like a PCOS patient. I was stunned and shaken up by the translocation results, b/c of all the things on my mind that could be wrong with me, that wasn't one of them.
Since Dr. B. now feels that PCOS and not the translocation is the main cause of my problems, we are on medicated IUI round 3. I go for monitoring tomorrow, and hopefully IUI at the end of the week. When he thought that the translocation was the main problem, he said that IUI wouldn't be useful, which I didn't exactly understand, b/c I figured it would at least eliminate a couple of variables. I mean, if we could potentially get PG on our own, why not with IUI? If I think about it all too much, I get overwhelmed, so I'm just going along with whatever Dr. B recommends for now. I don't have insurance coverage for IVF, so I really hope IUI works eventually!

Re: Seeing dr b fruday
I thought the same thing, that we should have been tested but dr b said since I already had a kid we didn't present as a translocation problem but I'm still questioning it. Where would I pull thinking I had this test from Oh well guess I'll find out more Friday. I think iui gives you a shot since like you said you could get pg on your own. Good luck tomorrow! I'll be at dr b Friday at 11, maybe you'll be there for your iui
