Second or third timers....When

did you tell your other children your pregnant? My son is 3 and I am 19 months preg, but I have not told him yet. I think it is to long for him to wait, and since I've had two recent miscarriages I've been very cautious. However now all my neices and nephews know and I am afraid he will find out from them instead of us. What do you think? Thanks for any advice.

Re: Second or third timers....When

My son was 22 months when my daughter was born.

I told him about 3 weeks before she was born. I didn't think he could distinguish pregnant from a heavy person & didn't want him hurting anyone else's feelings since he was very talkative with people in stores, etc.

The other thing is when you tell them something is happening, they tend to think it's happening right away. I would probably tell a 3 year old about 8 months or after the second level sonogram.

Re: Second or third timers....When

I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 2 year old and we told my older one that he is going to be a big brother again "someday soon".

He asked a couple of questions (where is the new baby going to sleep? can I play with the new baby? when is he coming out?) And once his questions were answered, he seems to have forgotten about it. Every once in awhile he will ask when the new baby is coming, so I say "Not till the WHOLE summer is over" and that satisifes him.

My 2 year old could care less Chat Icon

When DS#2 was born, DS# 1 was 20 months old, so during my pregnancy he had no idea what the heck was going on, he was a baby himself.

Well my husband and I dont have really little kids...13,9,8,8, and 4...we told everyone when I was 12 weeks...was difficult to keep it from the older ones any longer..my daughter Jaedyn had pretty much figured it out...it took the 4 year old a bit longer to "get it"

Re: Second or third timers....When

19 months eh? Yeah, it felt thay way a lot of the time for me.

I waited until we were out of the 1st trimester to tell Emma (shes 4) and she was THRILLED!!! Jeremy (2) could have cared less. Since she could understand I waited to be on the safe side but at 19 weeks Im sure you can say something, although he may not even care.

Re: Second or third timers....When

I told Jules as soon as the test was positive. She was only 18 months at the time. It was two days before Christmas, and on Christmas day, i was out of breath loading her in the car, and I was said, "Hold... on... Jules..., Mommy... is... (wanting to say having a hard time getting you in the car seat!)"....Jules comes out with, "A baby!"

Given the oppurtunity to do it over again, I would have waited... I just think DH and I were in such shock, we just didn't know what to do. Since then Jules is totally prepared. A few nights ago she kissed my belly and said, "Come on, come out baby...!" I just told her soon, he wasn't ready yet...
