Sears portrait studios closed!!!
Took my sons pics there on 3/27. Tol pictures would b done in two weeks . Got a general email saying they are closed. Ugh I want my pictures.

Wow! I have been going to JCP since they have been giving better promotions but this is definitely a surprise.

not a profitable business model. i wouldn't be surprised to see others follow especially JC Penny since their shares are dropping.

Wow. They were always able to upsell to me but there was only one photographer there who I loved. Is anyone in the studios? I have a feeling she will be a photographer somewhere else.

I was surprised too since every time I took my DS (every 3-4 months) there was always a wait and you needed and appointment. I personally thought they had the best quality pictures. I guess we'll go back to Target from now on.

The dark haired older lady? Well not really old, but not a teenager like some of the others.
I really liked that location. I haven't been recently, but I did many of my children's pictures there

I just got the email. I took pics there a few months ago. It seemed like it would be such a great deal because I had a coupon to make the sitting fee free. The prints cost a bunch and then if you want any prints of different poses... it costs even more. I def didn't think it was worth the money. For what I spent I could have hired a photographer and had nicer pics.

Yes. Her name is Wanda. She did not shoot during the holidays because she was managing the studio & coordinating things instead. She always hit the shutter at just the right moment & she was good at picking backgrounds.

I'm so surprised. I worked at the one in Garden City when I was in college. I have fond memories of that job.
Sears Portrai Studio is one of those places you'd think would be around forever

The custom/lifestyle photography market is heavily saturated by hungry photographers who are charging FAR less than Sears and JC Penny and they are providing you with digital edited photos which seem to be preferred these days over posed prints.

I dont know. Ive seen some pretty good ones out there who do know how to use a camera.
I would take that any day over someone with the same skill you mention above minus any editing or artistic ability.
