Seafood for dinner tonight
So I made plans to go to Blue Water Grill in NYC way before I knew I was pregnant. I am 5wks4d...I know that I can eat fish, but should I really try not to? I know they have chicken on the menu....but what about scallops and shrimp, those are OK, right? Need help!

My dr told me to just limit the amount of fish I eat that is high in mercury. I've eaten scallops and shrimp as well as flounder. I've also had tunafish. I try to just keep everything in moderation!

Re: Seafood for dinner tonight
the only things you should avoid are "large" fish, because of the very high levels of mercury:
Grouper Marlin Orange roughy Tilefish Swordfish Shark Mackerel (king)
everything ese is fine in moderation. enjoy!

Seafood is good to include in your diet. Shrimp and scallops are great. Just limit the ones with a lot of mercury like tuna, lobster and halibut. I think you're supposed to completely stay away from swordfish, shark, marlin, grouper, tilefish, king mackerel, chilean sea bass and orange roughy.

Here is a chart that tells you mercury levels: http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~frf/sea-mehg.html
Here is a chart that tells you the fish and how much a pregnant woman should eat each week/momth:
http://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancyhealth/fishmercury.htm
Enjoy your fish tonight. There are plenty of fish and shellfish that are safe to eat.
