School / Moving

So I will be closing on a new home this spring. It is in the same town i live in but a different elementary school for my child who is currently in PreK.
They just sent a note home about screening for K... and the teacher mentioned a summer recreational program to me that she thinks I should sign my son up for.
I dont know when to tell the school we are moving. I want him to finish out the year at his current school. I also dont know if i should enroll him in the summer program at his current school or his new school. He is of course looking to playing with all his "friends" that he has made this summer.
He has had a very hard time adjusting to school this year and although academically is doing well he is having challenges socially and behaviorally.
What would you do??

I would put him in the summer program for his new school so he has time to play and adjust over the summer before moving into a more structured setting. If many kids go, he will likely make friends before school starts

If you're closing on a new home in the spring then you won't be able to send him to the current school. They will want proof of residency. Plus, if you want to register him for Kindergarten, you'll have to update your address to the new one.

Think about it like this - might as well put him in his new school for the summer so he's more well adjusted for Kindergarten.

As for telling them that you're moving - you don't have to tell them until you close. You will have had to pay your new taxes to register him for Kindergarten, so no point in saying anything yet.

I just want him to be able to finish out the year in the current school. Doesnt make sense for us to close in May and then move him to another school for a month. So i was thinking of keeping my mouth shut until the summer and then register him for K then. I am struggling with the summer program because i just want him to be able to have fun and not worry about a new building, new friends, etc. But maybe biting that bullet now will make the transition easier for him in September.

Enroll him in the summer program at the New school. But if you're in the same town, I doubt they'd make toy switch school for a month. Same town, same taxes. You would just have to provide transportation.

I would put him in the summer program at hi soon new school so he can get adjusted and make new friends before school starts. As far as telling the school, if it's I. The same district they most likely won't make you switch school with only 1 month left of the school year. You'll just have to provide transportation.
