Scheduled induction... Tell me what to expect!

So baby #3 has no interest in showing up and doc has scheduled me for my induction on Wednesday. I am a fingertip dilated and a little soft for the last 2 weeks ... What should I expect ? I am a little nervous and scared!

Re: Scheduled induction... Tell me what to expect!

I had to get there at 630am. I gave my insurance card and answered a couple questions. They brought me into my room. I changed into the gown and the nurse started an IV. I only needed pitocin because I was 3 cm already. They hung that and basically you just wait. I got an epidural a little while later at 4cm. I ended up with a csection though because I didn't progress more than 5cm.

Good luck!

Re: Scheduled induction... Tell me what to expect!

I had to get there around 7 am, they set me up in the room, started the IV with pitocin bc I was 3cm. Couple hours later they broke my water. An hour later I got my epi at 6 cm, 10 mins after they finally put it in my DD was born! From start to finish it was a little less than 4 hrs, and I pushed for about 5 mins.

This was my second child, and my DH almost missed her birth bc I sent him home to check on my DS thinking it would take forever, so my advice dont let DH leave the hospital just in case lol.

Scheduled induction... Tell me what to expect!

#3 for me too. Same as above but my water was broken before the Pit was started to see if I'd start contractions on my own. They were not strong enough so Pit was started with a saline drip. The contractions are killer but epi helped. My DD was born less then 4 hrs from when Pit was started. Your OB & nurse will go over EVERY step. Good luck.

Re: Scheduled induction... Tell me what to expect!

I was induced with ds1. I went in the night before and my Dr used a balloon cathater. That was left in overnight and by the time she checked me in the am I was 4 cm. she brook my water and put me on the lightest drop of pitiful because I was already progressing at that point. I had the epidural at 5 cm, had DS naturally at about 3:00pm.
And as a side note, I was scheduled to be induced with ds2 because I was late. I was checked Monday morning and wasn't effaced or dilated. Scheduled for a Wednesday morning induction. I went into active labor Monday-Tuesday overnight. Had DS by 6:00. It moved quick!!!

Re: Scheduled induction... Tell me what to expect!

I had to arrive around 7 and do the whole admitting paperwork thing. Then they got me a room in L&D and did some preliminary stuff before induction. They told me I was contracting, but I didn't feel it. The on-call doctor came in to give me cervadil, which goes in like a tampon. They said it would take 12 hours to even put me in labor. They let me have a sandwich. They told my DH he should go home to get some sleep (we lived around the block). He didn't. Good thing because I ended going into to full blown labor within a couple of hours. My water broke on it's own around 5 am and the cervadil fell out. I got an epi an hour or so later and had DD a little after 9. All in all, it was a pretty fast process for me.

Scheduled induction... Tell me what to expect!

I went in the night before because they gave me Cervadil. The next morning the doc removed it and then got moved to a L&D room (spent overnight in a room, just wasn't the laboring and delivery room). They broke my water and contractions started but nothing unbearable. DD was just not moving so I ended up with a C. I was already a week late. I know many that have had successful inductions!

Just make sure you eat before you check into the hospital!!
