Scary Saturday
Let me start by saying our little one seems to be fine. DH and I spent a good part of yesterday at the hospital. Friday I had slight cramps on and off through the day (felt like AF, in my lower back). Saturday, they were stronger and lingered--never really went away. I wasn't bleeding or having contractions as far as I could tell, but I decided to call my doctor. She asked me some questions, and then told me I should go to the hospital to make sure I wasn't going into early labor. She did say it probably wasn't that from what I was saying, but it would be best to be cautious. She also thought it could be a UTI.
So, we went to the closest hospital (North Shore LIJ) and they monitored by the baby's heartbeat and me for contractions. Those tests were fine, and I don't have a UTI. I still have cramping today, though no worse than yesterday. The doctor I saw there seemed to think this was either ligament pain or just discomfort from shifting organs. I'm 23 weeks now, and my stomach does appear to have gotten larger higher up than it was previously, so things may be shifting. She also told me to drink LOTS of water--she didn't think I was dehydrated, but she said too little water could make my uterus contract.
I'll follow up with my regular doctor tomorrow, but I am soooo grateful this was not early labor or some other problem with the baby. That was my greatest fear, and while I kept thinking this was probably nothing, it would have been devastating if something was wrong with our DC.

Re: Scary Saturday
I'm glad everything is alright. I had a scary Friday. I noticed brown spotting (I'm 28w5d) and I panicked. I called the doctor and she had me go into her office and I was put on a monitor same as you. I had no cramping just brown spotting. It actually stopped by the time I got there. So everyting is good I just know it's a really scary. I know now that it could be so many things.

Re: Scary Saturday
Just wanted to add that in my case she said that it could have been from my placenta moving up ( I was diagnosed with a low lying placenta at 18weeks). It was old blood coming out.

Re: Scary Saturday
Thanks for your support ladies!
I felt a little silly for making a big deal out of nothing, but on the other hand, it's much better it was nothing than something.
There was no bleeding, just some steady, uncomfortable cramping. It seems to have gone away as of today, though I put in a call to my regular doctor just to see if she thinks this was handled well or if she wants to run additional tests.
But hopefully, it was ligament pain or some cramping due to the baby shifting.

Don't feel silly, you can never be to sure. I called the doctor for every little thing when I was pregnant..that's what they're there for. Glad to hear the baby is ok. Get some rest and drink lots of water.

Re: Scary Saturday
We are about a week apart and I've noticed the same cramping. Whenever I get any kind of cramping whatsoever I immediately drink @ 16 oz or more of water and 99.9% of the time it goes away within 5 minutes.
