Scary Night - A trip to L&D
I'll be 21 weeks on Monday... I woke up at 2:00 am to pee like I always do and when I wiped there was bright red blood on the t.p. Of course I freaked out, and to make matters worse, my husband is away on business in D.C. since Tuesday and will be home this afternoon, so I was alone. I called my Drs. office and they sent me directly to the ER.. Since I was near hysterical, I ended up going to a different hospital since it's pretty much around the corner from me. My hospital where my Dr. is with is about 20 minutes. But it was crazy raining last night and I was to hysterical to drive myself there. No family nearby either. I get to the ER and they send me directly to the P.E.T unit in L&D, They hooked me up to a monitor, baby girl's heartbeat thank g-d was good and I was not having any contractions. An internal showed that my cervix is closed, and the sono showed my little girl having a party in my uterus. No explanation for the bleeding, and the Dr. said he did see that there had been blood, but it looked like old blood.
So, thank g-d my little girl is okay, but I told my husband he is not going away again for the rest of my pregnancy! I've never been so scared.
We're supposed to be leaving for Florida tomorrow afternoon, and I'm just really scared now to go. I have a call into my Dr. to let her know what happened and to get her opinion on whether or not I should travel.

That sounds so friggin scary!! Especially to deal with on your own! I'm so glad that everything is ok... I'm sure it will be fine to go to FL. Maybe you can try and relax a bit down there? And of course, hubby will be with you so no worries about being alone!! Take it easy and feel better!

Thank God you and  are ok!! I had spotting at 26 weeks and it turned out I had an infection. They said it made me more sensative and friction caused it. Hopefully that it all it is.

So glad everything is okay!
Maybe I am extra cautious, but I would be nervous too about going away. I just wouldn't want to be that far away from my Dr. Did your Dr. get back to you about it??

Oh Michelle-
I am so sorry you had to go through this alone! I am so happy to hear, though, that baby girl is partying away happily!
As long as the dr. says it's ok to travel, I would. It sounds like you and hubby deserve some much needed rest.

I am SO glad everything is ok with your little girl. It sounds like you handled everything with a level head--as much as possible, anyway.

Thanks Ladies I'm actually at work this morning (don't ask me how I managed to get myself here, after not getting home until 4am). I've stopped bleeding, but having some on and off brown spotting which the Dr. in the hospital said might happen due to the internal they did. Oh.. and Mr. Dr.... not so gentle with the speculum, I was seeing stars!
I have not yet heard back from my Dr. Hopefully I'll hear from her soon.
I swear, everytime I relax about this pregnancy, something happens.

Oh you poor thing to have gone through that alone.... I had a scary bleeding episode with bright red blood and clots at 12 weeks. They never found the cause......... Baby is partying in my uterus as we speak......
Try and get some rest today! Glad all is well!

Glad everything was ok !!! Definately let your Dr. know you have travel plans- If he is ok with you going at least he will know where you are in the event you need to see another OB so he can co-ordinate it for you (but I'm sure your just fine !!!! ) I think they like to know anyway !

I'm so glad your little lady is okay. I know too well how scary that can be. My DH was also not home when I had my bleeding episode at 27 weeks. Try and take it easy! I hope your Dr. thinks it's okay for you to travel because a little R&R is probably just what you need!
