Saw
DH's birthday is coming and he wants a saw so he can do some projects around the house. He is very handy and was going to get one but I want to surprise him with it. Any suggestion on a good one? TIA

Re: Saw
Get him a riciprocating saw, also known as a saw zaw. They are very useful for any project. Every household should have one.

Lowes
A Sawzall is really only good for taking things apart. They are really great for that (I have one, and use it often), but it's not good at all for building stuff. Cuts are very uneven and had to control. If you are tearing things down, however, that's perfect.
If you don't know what kind of saw, what kind of projects does he do? Make furniture, create ornate objects with wood, build walls, etc.

Re: Saw
I'm not handy at all but my DH is & I know he'd love a saw but would probably not want the one I picked. If I were you, I'd get him a Lowe's or Home Depot gift certificate & maybe put in his card, put this towards a saw of your choice. JMO

Re: Saw
I would say a table saw. Home Depot sells a very good Ridgid table saw and Lowes sells a quality Hitachi table saw or you could go for the top of the line Delta table saw which will last forever... And my wife is right Im sure I wouldnt like one she picked out.
