saved 1/8 tank of gas!
although i felt like a blue-haired grandma...
i had to take a drive today. usually, the round-trip uses 1/2 tank of gas. today, i drove at the speed limit (instead of my usual 80mph) and when it was all said and done, i had used 1/8 tank of gas less than normal.
i'm feeling pretty smug, now

I've been driving like an old lady for months now and it DEFINITELY saves gas!
even now that I have my TL, I still drive 60 on the highway. old ladies pass ME

just curious - how much longer did it take you than when you drive 80?

My DH set the cruise control on 60 yesterday on the LIE..
I told him "Look, there goes my grandmother and she doesn't even drive"..
Everyone was going around us and I mean everyone!
At first I asked him "You're kidding right", but, then thought about it after a while and realized, OK..It's a holiday, morons on the road, and Oh Yea, we are saving money.
On the way home, he did it again, I didn't say a word.

80mph=1hr 20minutes
speed limit (55 or 65 throughout)=2hrs
i had some good music on. i didn't mind the time so much.

DH has been "hypermiling" to save gas for a while now. He coasts instead of goes for the brake all the time and does the speed limit. His SUV now gets an extra 4 mpg!
