Sarah Michelle Gellar got all sexed up as Maxim's 2008 Woman of the Year. While most magazines are declaring who was the reigning entertainers of this past year, Maxim is looking forward and predicting SMG's big comeback with many movies including Southland Tales. In the article SMG dishes about being a tough girl and why she decided to do her first Maxim cover. Here's highlights:
On holding her on in a fight:
"Chicks are dirty -- hair pulling, scratching. Guys have guy codes. They don't sucker-punch. They don't punch in certain areas. Anything goes in chick fights. But if anything ever goes down, I think I'll be OK. I'm pretty scrappy."
On why she decided to do the cover:
Lots of things. I’m 30, and I’m promoting a bunch of different kinds of movies. I like to shake things up every once in a while. It’s good to leave people wanting more, but I don’t want to leave them waiting too long or they’ll lose interest. Besides, how could I not do a Maxim shoot when I have a movie coming out in which I play a porn star?
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. have known each other for 10 years and have been married for more than five. But it still might be a while before they begin to raise a family.
"You can't be selfish and have a child," Gellar, 30, tells Maxim in its December issue. "Right now I want to live my life and have fun. I want to go sit in my Jacuzzi and drink wine all night."
Or maybe hit the town. "When I'm home in New York, my wild side comes out," she admits. "That's when I go dancing until five in the morning."
Prinze, at 31, is only a year older. But it sounds like he sometimes has a hard time keeping up. "Freddie likes to say I'm so crazy, it's like being married to five different women," says Gellar.
But she says their marriage is still exciting. "As an actor every three months you have a new haircut or hair color, so it's like being with a different person. And a lot of high heels!" she tells the magazine. "We just had one of those double showers and a custom bathtub built for two put in. It has colored lights."
Gellar made her name as the star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and she's still proud of the TV series. "There wasn't anything else at the time that said women could be flawed and sexy and kick ***," she said.
Next up for the actress: a turn in Richard Kelly's Southland Tales, in which she plays a porn star. "When you think about who should play a porn star, don't I just pop into your mind?" she says.
