San Fran Ideas needed!

We are going to San Fran in August for a wedding but we want to make a vacation out of it. I know there are tons of wineries nearby but we don't want to do that. We were thinking about some of the nat'l parks, etc. Anyone have any suggestions of things to do or tours to take? Any tour company recommendations?

The redwood trees are so beautiful. We walked around for awhile.

My sister used to live 2 blocks from Haight St. Its fun to walk around there.

Go across the Golden Gate to the Marin Headlands and head to Muir Woods. Absolutely gorgeous (albeit a bit scary b/c of the windy roads) drive and a nice park with both easy and more difficult hikes. It is a National Park. After that you can continue down to the beach (Stinson Beach) which is right on the Pacific. North of Stinson Beach is the Point Reyes Lighthouse. It makes a very nice day trip from the city. Also in Marin is Mount Tam (Tamalpais) park which is great for biking, hiking, etc. and also very easy drive from the city. I used to live in Marin.

If you have more time, you might want to head south out of the city down to the Monterrey area but that is a bit farther and really warrants more time.
