Anyone know anything about Sake?

A friend gave us a bottle as a gift 7 years ago when they came back form Japan.
We were saving for a "special" occasional and I put it in the basement when we re-did our DR, so I found it and it just occured to me that its probably not the type of that should be saved for that long Chat Icon

Re: Sake

It is Japanise rice vodka. It can be served hot or cold, depending on what kind it is. Some taste better hot, some cold.

I love it and we order it a lot inJapanese restaurants. Order Sushi and enjoy!

And hey, shouldn't this post be on Food and Recipes? where is the post police?Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Sake

Just looked it up for you....

.......It does not age like wine and is best when fresh. It has a shelf life of approximately 2 years. Once opened, saké will stay fresh for approximately 1 week in the refrigerator. It is recommended that saké be served at 45 degrees F. (7 degrees C). Saké should also be store in a cool place, out of strong light.

Basically, it says give it a try either warmed or chilled, but don't expect too much.
