Has anyone ever taken their LO to the Baby and Me class they offer?? I'm thinking of doing this with DS but part of me thinks I should just wait until he is older, the other part thinks the earlier he learns to swim/be comfortable in the water the better...

I started LO in this class at the Deer Park location. We started last month and LOVE it. HE loves it so much!! & he gets more and more comfortable in the water.
I think the younger they learn, the better.

I do the mommy and me classes at YMCA and my girls love it! I think it's great to get them use to pool with you there and this way when they are old enough for swimming lessons by themselves they aren't afraid!

Thanks! That is how I felt until DH brought up what the ped said about not bringing him out until 12 weeks (which I personally feel is a long time) but knowing other people have done it I feel better about wanting to start him young!
We would be going to the location in Deer Park as well, just not starting until the end of April.

We joined last summer and absolutely loved it, but with twins it was hard, because while I was changing there was no where to put the babies other then their stroller, which was a little too big to bring in. That was my only compliant. The babies loved it and the instructor was very helpful and really taught them stuff,

I hated it. It was the same exact class every week, DD and I were both bored. She definitely didn't learn anything. We ended up skipping a few classes because I disliked it so much.

They taught my babies how to reach for toys in the pool by paddling with their arms.
Going under water
The best way to climb in and out of the pool.
How to kick their feet
How to be comfortable in the water
At the time they were 8 months.

we did it around 6 months and only did 6 weeks. i wish we had done more. i might try to take him again now that he's older. i think it was a nice way to introduce him to the water.
