Saf T Swim - Yay or Nay
My mom will treat Jack to lessons at Saf T Swim.
Looking for some feedback. My cousins took all of my nieces and nephews and they loved it - I just think they started a little older than Jack - I just can't remember!
He will be 21 months when he starts
ETA: Would you do individual lessons or the Mommy and Me? -- Keep in mind I still hold my nose in the water!

I've wanted to take C there since she was 6 months old...want to know the selfish reason why I haven't? Because I will only do the Mommy & Me class, and I'm NOT getting in a bathing suit I hate that I'm so self-conscious that it's robbing her of fun, but it is

I should also add that I think he'll learn more from an instructor then from me.

Re: Saf T Swim - Yay or Nay
Although Kelly (waterspout) is recovering, you should ask her. She was an instructor.
She posted a great post last year about it. It was a very informative post. I would have to find it for you.

I really, really, REALLY (did I mention, really? ) want Chris to take Christopher this spring. He loves the water and pools and I think it would be fun for both of them.

Thanks so much for bumping the post - I'll read it now!
Kate - you should really really really sign him up - they are running a promotion through the end of January. If you book by 1/31 you get 25% off - you can start any session you want - it doesn't have to be now!

Re: Saf T Swim - Yay or Nay
My DS has been going since about a year old. We never did Mommy amd Me - he went with an instructor. he cried a little bit in the beginning but loves it now. (he is almost 22 months now)
Actually, we go today and i asked him if he wanted to go swimming and he is now running around saying "yes! Yes! go kick!" and then he lays on his back and kicks.
I think it great, and IMO super important for little one to learn to swim.

My coworker started her son at 2 and said that for him it was perfect. That age just so happens to fall in the summer this year for Lucas so we are thinking that we might sign him up in June.

Victoria just loved going last summer (although it's where she got coxsackie).
She went with an instructor and did so well kicking her feet - I have pictures and video if you want to see how she did

Re: Saf T Swim - Yay or Nay
Individual ones Jeremy started at 3 months and was swimming at 18 months. He turned 4 a week ago and can swim the length of a pool with no problems at all. He dives, does different strokes. My 6 yr old also started young, she was 14 months and also is an excellent swimmer. Lukie on the other hand started at 3 months and would rather drown than kick his feet LOL. It depends on the child. It's $$$ but money well spent!!

Re: Saf T Swim - Yay or Nay
Its never too early to learn how to swim.
One of my good friends had her son in YMCA at 6 months. I thought she was nuts! Well, lets just say that I don't think so anymore since the lessons came very handy when he fell in the pool while they were vacationing in St. John's...
ETA: I would do either one.

Re: Saf T Swim - Yay or Nay
We don't take a "Saf T Swim" program...but we've been doing a swim class at our Y. We're in our 2nd session right now.
It's a mommy and me with an instructor and I HIGHLY recommend taking one!!

Re: Saf T Swim - Yay or Nay
I did the mommy and me with DS - he was 10 months old and loved it. I thought it was good...esp. to get them in the water.
