sad day in this "nut house"

Sad day in this nut-eating household...24 hrs after our DS's 2nd birthday we introduced our poor lil guy to mixed nuts....seconds later his face blew up like Will Smith in "Hitch." - blotchy face and swollen lips! Scared and sad mommy here! Thank god we had benedryl in the house seemed to tame the reaction! This changes how we eat from here on out! =((

We eat a lot of peanut butter - myself, my DH and our 3.5 yr old DD. We are heartbroken at the thought of having to go nut free!

I just hope that when we make an apt at the allergist first thing tomorrow morning he narrows it down to one or the other and not all! I am guessing tree nuts are the "lesser of two evils"! I feel like peanuts are harder to avoid!

This allergy cam out of no where and none of our family members (close or extended have it)

we are at a loss, confused and upset!
We followed the "rules" waiting until 2 yrs old...and apparently it didnt matter!

UGH! I just hope I can make an allergist apt sooner rather than later so I know just what the next step is =(

Thanks for letting me vent! Never a dull moment!

Re: sad day in this "nut house"

Just went through the SAME exact thing...

Sash has tree nut allergy, and is not allergic to peanuts or almonds-- based on what she was tested for.

Good luck at the allergist and FM me with any questions.

It's really hard and upsetting to find out your child has an allergy like this-- but from my initial acceptance and research of this-- it's very easy to deal with these days. Chat Icon
