I agreed with some of the commenters in the responses to the date night article - once a week seems like a lot to me and totally unrealistic.


If you could have your way - how often do you think date night is realistic?

We currently probably have one at least once a quarter. More so during may and june cause its birthdays and anniversary

i think it would be ideal to do it every week ... but it would never work out

every other week or once a month is probably do-able.

I try and do 2 nights a month. One Friday one sat. I don't want to abuse my sitters lol and I think that's plenty expensive lol. My dh would go out every week. Sometimes my sitters are very busy so some months we don't go out at all.

We don't live on LI but all our family is there so when we visiting we usually go out as well. B/c we then take advantage if our free sitters. Lol

Once a month would be ideal, but the last date night we went on was in May and before then was in February. I would really like a monthly date night.

Ideally, once a week.
Realistically, once a month.
I would say we go out to dinner the 2 of us once a month, sometimes twice.

I would LOVE every week but that's not remotely practical.

We usually go out every few months. Realistically we could probably go out more because my parents love watching them but I don't want them to feel like we're taking advantage. KWIM?

Once a month would be awesome though, I should strive for that!!

I have zero people that would watch my LO unfortunately, so DH and I go out once a quarter to once or twice a year. It's very sad.

I'd love once a week, but I'd say once a month would also be ideal.

This is Texas.. going out is much cheaper LOL
Besides we don't need to go "OUT" just not having AJ and sitting at home watching Netflix with a bowl of ice cream is nice (as is sleeping in).

We won't leave and go out of town without AJ. So we stay local but she goes to my aunt's.

Hmmm, all the time, except our ds is included. We eat out every weekend. I go out for lunch most days with my ds. Are we poorer for it? Maybe... We hit up panera and chipotle often.

I'd love once a month but that would never happen. Were lucky if we get out once every 3 months.

1-2x per month seems realistic. I'd be happy with that!

We usually go out once a week. Many times though we don't leave until DD is already in bed and those nights tend to be quick and local, burgers and beers at our favorite pub kind of thing.

I'd say it's more like once a month where we'll do an actual nice dinner out while my mom gives DD dinner and puts her to bed.

Growing up I spent every single Friday night at my grandparents house. THAT is ideal. My grandparents loved it, I loved it, my parents loved it.

I'm a working mom though (my mom was not), so when the weekend rolls around, I just want to spend time with DD. That's why we tend to go out after she's in bed.

Once a month would be nice - doesn't happen. I used to work with someone and they went out every Saturday night as a date night from the time there first was born.

We get a sitter or have family watch the kids at least 2x/month. Love date night

We don't nearly as much as we should. Part of it lies with the fact that my mom watched DD1 when I was working a few days so when it came to extra stuff sometimes it was hard to get a sitter. We have since found an "additional" babysitter that we are going to use much more often when I go back to work in September. We do also try to have date nights at home where we cook dinner, turn off phones/TV etc and just "hangout" but it is nice to get out with your hubby kid free every now and again. We are going to aim for 2x a month.

DH and I manage to get out once a month. We don't have a baby sitter other than my folks, but they love watching DD (and she adores them) and they'll even keep her overnight, which is a bonus for us.

I feel like my folks went out a lot more than DH and I do, but my memories are from when I was older, probably 7+ (DD is only 18mo), so I'm sure that's part of it. Perhaps when DD is older, we'll be able to go out once a week or twice a month, but right now it's just not feasible. Plus, I work FT and want to see DD on the weekends . I love alone time with DH, but I miss DD during the week.
