Not what I was hoping for. Chat Icon
Good count but not so good morphology.
6%.
We've got %^&# Aetna which is an infertility nightmare so we aren't jumping to IUI.
Can someone give me some hope of getting pregnant with this morphology.
I've got two good follies ready to go. I'm doing HCG for luteal phase support but it all lies with the little swimmers.
We did get pregnant on our own twice, second time taking almost 9 months and DH is now 3 years older so who knows how much worse the morphology is compared to then.
I'm trying to keep positive but I'm feeling a little defeated right now as I wasn't expecting that news.

Re: S/A results

is this WHO morphology or Kruger morphology?

Either way, if it is WHO, then normal is 7%, i would even worry about 6%
If it is Kruger, then i think norm is about 14%, but i still would not worry much, as morphology changes. Look into supplements. GL!

I didn't ask but pretty sure it was Kruger since on the lab sheet the normal range was 14%

What are good supplements?

Do you know anything about diet soda affecting morphology? I feel like I read that somewhere.

Re: S/A results

do not know about soda, neither of us drinks it.
ProXeed is very good, but $$$$$. my DH bought supplements that are in ProXeed separately, they came out much cheaper.

Re: S/A results

these 2 are very important:

L-Carnitine & Acetyl-L-carnitine

play a key role in sperm energy metabolism.5 Many clinical studies have shown that carnitines play an important role in sperm function by affecting sperm motility, sperm morphology, sperm concentration, and sperm count.6–9 L-carnitine and Acetyl-L-carnitine may also help to protect sperm by mitigating the production of damaging free radicals.

buy them from good manufacturer separately.

I'm trying to figure too if we're making a mistake not doing IUI. My nurse really wasn't pushing for it so that makes me think that it wouldn't increase our odds that much. I'm so new to all of this. I just don't know what's right and wrong. Chat Icon

Re: S/A results

unfortunately, no one knows for sure what is right or wrong.Chat Icon i think the only known factor where IUI does not work or not recommended is low count. Since you have no issue with count, i truly think that with help of supplements, it will all work out.Chat Icon

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm going to look into the supplements now.

Is there one pill that has all this stuff in it?
It's hard to get DH to take a vitamin so taking all of these every day might be asking a bit much.

I read pycnogenol and Vitamin E also.

Re: S/A results

Pycnogenol and COQ10 are help with morphology. Also if your DH smokes he should quit..the count is good so that is a very good thing and I've seen morph alot lower. Also acupuncture can help as well as anything with antioxidants.

Thanks so much. I'll go get these.
Morphology was the only issue.
He doesn't smoke. I've told him to cut out the diet soda and only one cup of coffee a day.
I know it won't help for this cycle but I want to start getting prepared should we be trying again next month.
