RTF vs Powder formula?
Does anyones child ONLY drink RTF? My newborn is still struggling with gas issues and I always question myself if it could be the bubbles from the powder formula? If your child is on RTF only, what is the reason? Thinking of giving it a try and see if her gas gets better? We have been on alimentum for a week and the gas issues are still here. It's not at every feeding, mostly in the evening and at night but sometimes during the day too. Also if you are using RTF, are you heating up the bottles at every feeding?

RTF vs Powder formula?
I had to us RTF for my DS. I tried to switch him to powder when he was a few weeks old and he had such a hard time with it. Screaming after bottles and not the happy baby he had been. Everyone told me there was no difference bwteen RTF and powder but for him there was. I would stick the bottle in a cup of hot water and let it warm while I changed his diaper and then grabbed it when I was done.

How old is your baby? My daughter just had to grow out of it.

Re: RTF vs Powder formula?
To my disappointment, as powder is much cheaper, my son could ONLY take the RTF. So, I just sucked up the extra expense because the powder made him SO gassy and so unhappy.

Re: RTF vs Powder formula?
My dd was only on powder formula b/c she was on an rx formula that only came in powder. After shaking it up, I would swirl the bottle (sort of like wine tasting!), which helped break down a lot of the bubbles.
I do know of some friends who switched to rtf if their baby seemed gassy on the powder. Mixed results of whether it was successful.
If I did rtf, I would heat up if it came from the fridge (not the first room temp serving from the container).

Dd1 was strictly on rtf alimentum. She was a diff baby on it. The powder with the bubbles and foam gave her gas pains.

Re: RTF vs Powder formula?
I have always only used RTF. Its what they gave us at the hospital and I just stuck with it. I don't heat up DS's bottles if its a brand new bottle out of the room temp bottle but if I have it in the fridge, I heat it up to take the chill out of it. It is a little more pricey than the powder but we get it at BJ's and use the Similac coupons. He has done well on it so I never wanted to change it if it wasn't necessary.

I only used rtf, ended up on rtf alimentum with both of my kids. It's the only thing that got rid of their gas pain.

Alimentum powder has corn solids in it that a lot of kids don't tolerate. Alimentum rtf is much more easily tolerated.
