RTF formula vs Powered

Those of you that use both.....Does your DC seem to have more gas with the powdered formula?

I believe that Ali gets a little gassy with the powder, but I think it is also cause I don't give it to her too often

My ped told me that the powder does cause more gas and why I shouldn't use it (my DD is gassy on the RTF)

Re: RTF formula vs Powered

I tried switching to powder with Matthew and it made him constipated so I stuck with the reday made.

Re: RTF formula vs Powered

DD doesn't tolerate powdered so we use RTU exclusively. I am planning on trying to give her powdered when we are away from home and see how it goes. She's getting older now - 7 mos.

Re: RTF formula vs Powered

We are going to Florida in 2 weeks and I thought it would be easier to use the powder. My only concern is when DS was on Gentlease he was really gassy. He is on nutramagen RTF and has no gas so I am nervous that he will get gas if I try the powder. He will be meeting his Great Grandparents so I don't want him to be cranky.

my DD is also on nutramigen and my ped suggested skipping the powder, BUT my DD is still gassy even on the RTU

DS wont take powered anymore. When he was younger he definitly did get a little more gassy on the powered no matter how I tried to stir it. Everytime I used the powered I always would put Mylcon in the bottle to try and get rid of the gas.

Re: RTF formula vs Powered

I find that DD gets gassy and spits up more if we mix each bottle at a time. If I prepare a container in advance and just pour each bottle out as we need it, she seems fine. She also definately has more gas and spits up more if we give her a cold or room temp bottle, regardless of whether it is powdered or RTF. She does better when we warm it.

Re: RTF formula vs Powered

I just thought it would be easier b/c you can prepare as needed rather then having prepared bottles where I have to keep ice packs in the diaper bag.

Diane We are going on a Friday and coming home on Tuesday. We were supposed to leave tomorrow but DH’s Grandpa just got out of the hospital with pneumonia and is now in rehab so we pushed it off two more weeks.

Re: RTF formula vs Powered

When DS was eating Similac, he seemed to be more gassy if I made a powder bottle but I was using mostly RTF. Then, I switched him to only powder and he did soooo much better. Now he is on Enfamil Gentlease, which only comes in powder and he is doing great.

So, my answer is that when I was mixing RTF and powder, he was more gassy, but NOT when I used exclusive powder. hope that makes sense!
