Root Canal
Hi ladies,
I am 21 weeks pregnant and I just found out that I need a root canal. I am so stressed by this as I have been so careful not to take ANYTHING this pregnancy and now I will be forced to have some meds during the procedure. I'm going to speak with my doctor but has anyone ever had to do this while pregnant? Please let me know what the risks are and what meds are approved etc. TIA!

I had a filling in the second trimester. Just ask for the special local anesthesia. The dentist will know. You can take low dose Tylenol for the pain.

My dentist cancelled my last appointment because it was nothing major but they said if I needed to come in for something more serious it would be no problem. They give different numbing stuff.

Root Canal
Lidocaine is safe during pregnancy. For pain you can take Tylenol or if the pain warrants it you can take Percocet. I would give you OB a call just to see what they recommend.
