Rome, Italy

I'm going in 2 weeks 1/2 business, 1/2 pleasure. For those of you that have been there, where do I need to go? what do I need to see. The big ones are already on my list... The Vatican, the Colliseum, ancient Rome, etc.

TIA

The Spanish Steps - you can grab some gelato nearby and sit down on the steps and people watch. Plenty of shopping around that area as well

The Trevi Fountain - one of my favorite places in Rome. You should definitely check it out at night

Piazza Navona - also another great place to stroll around after grabbing some delicious dinner Chat Icon

The Pantheon

There are a million churches and museums. Depending on your interests, I would look at some guide books for additional info on the museums so you can hit up those that interest you the most. The Borghese Gallery is a really nice one (and of course the Vatican).

Rome is a beautiful, exciting and BIG city. My advice is don't try and squeeze too many things into your trip if you can't. Of the times I've been there, what I always enjoyed most was some sightseeing during the day, followed by a wonderful meal at a local restaurant (try and avoid the tourist traps) and strolling through the city at night.

This link to another recent post might give you some additonal info as well. Enjoy!

Eat spaghetti carbonara at Da Sergio (right off Campo de Fiore) or pasta with squash blossoms at Pierluigi (right near the French Embassy, also near Campo de Fiore). Stroll through the morning market at Campo. Pistachio gelato at Blue Ice. Grab some pizza bianca anywhere. :) Enjoy!

We rented an apartment near the Pantheon. Staying there 4 days (and seeing Depeche Mode on 4/16!); then heading to the Amalfi coast. Where are you staying?

I'm staying at the Villa Maria near the American Acedemy in Rome (my boss is doing her residency there). I'm not sure where that is in relation to, well, anything, lol

have a great time!
