Rock N Play

Hi Ladies, crashing from the pregnancy board. Wanted to get some BTDT opinions on Rock n' plays. I want to add one to my registry as I always read on here how great they are but should I be going for the portable bassinet (http://www.buybuybaby.com/store/product/Fisher-Price-reg-Rock-n-Play-Portable-Bassinet/1040811116?Keyword=rock+and+play) or the sleeper (http://www.buybuybaby.com/store/product/Fisher-Price-reg-Newborn-Rock-39-n-Play-trade-Sleeper-in-Luminosity/1042374404?Keyword=rock+and+play)

If it makes a difference we plan on using it in our bedroom for DS to sleep in until he is about 8-10 weeks old when we will hopefully transition him to the crib. Any input would be appreciated, thanks!!

Re: Rock N Play

I vote the sleeper. Its more upright which is good if baby has reflux. My girls slept in there until 3.5 mo then for naps and in the LR just to hang out with a toy.

I vote the inclined sleeper -- i heard they have vibrating RNP's now. Go for that!!!

DEF the sleeper!!!! The incline helps. I would put it in front of the TV or myself and he would be able to see what was going on and not be flat. PLUS like PP said, it's GREAT for reflux!

We used the rnp snugabunny as a bassinet for the first 7 weeks. It was great!

If you're definitely getting one of these, I'd vote for the RnP Sleeper because it's on an incline. For us, DS just slept in his swing since he liked the incline and needed the motion to sleep.

For what it's worth, don't overthink it too much. You'll figure it all out once the baby is here. I thought DS would sleep in a bassinet, but he never liked it. So we used the swing and moved him into his crib much earlier than we anticipated.

Thanks everyone! I am a little concerned with the sleeper being on an incline and then trying to transition him quickly to the crib. Does that transition usually go smoothly?

Also, I don't mean to sound dumb, but do breastfed babies also like the incline or is that only for formula babies with reflux issues? I plan on breastfeeding so not sure if the incline thing will apply for us. Obviously I am clueless lol

I think you can go either way. I had the sleeper and we used it for some naps, hanging out, traveling. At night DD slept in a cosleeper which is great for nursing since you don't have to get up to get them in and out There was no concern about her getting used to the incline and we had an easy transition to the crib. However, some will have an easy time transitioning from the incline and others won't but I think it's the same for the bassinet. Every baby is different!

I vote for the sleeper too. DD slept in it until she was 3 months and transitioned to the crib with no problems.

Breastfed babies can also have reflux. My son is EBF and had bad reflux for the first 8-10 weeks. We just transferred him at 4 months into the crib. It went smoothly.

SLEEPER!!! best thing ever. I never registered for it and it was the biggest mistake ever. My son had major spit up and i needed the incline. this is the one we have http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Newborn-Sleeper-Little-Snugabunny/dp/B00DJPGL42/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1395215287&sr=8-2&keywords=rock+and+play+sleeper+deluxe
