Rock and Play Sleeper

Is this different than a bouncy seat?
I have a bouncy seat, bassinet, crib, swing. Do I need one? What's so great about it?

I have everything from my DD but I saw this at BRU and thought it's be cute for the baby to sleep in when I'm downstairs

it is different. i think one of the biggest pros is that you can place it on the floor and still reach the baby and rock it from sitting on the couch. it also folds up to almost completely flat which is great for storing or transporting.

It is different because it is on an angle and they can safely sleep in it. It is also easy to rock it while it is next to your bed or couch. I had an expensive cosleeper and I ended up using the RNP all of the time. I had one for my house and one for my parents. It folds in half for easy storage and you can easily move it all over the house because it is so light. I saw the new one has more padding for their heads which is good because the one I had was hard.

J, it is different than a bouncer etc.

DS lived in his for months. He also had reflux so the RNP was a godsend since it's at the perfect 30 degree angle. It also slightly hugs them so they feel secure, and it has mesh sides so it's breathable!

If baby is fussy, just use your hand to rock him/her. When baby is a little older, he/she can lightly rock himself. It's a different motion than the bouncer.

I really recommend it! We are definitely using ours again with baby #2!

Anyone know how well this works on carpet? Will prob use it in my bedroom and dont have wood floors in there

I had one for DS#1 and it was amazing BUT he never transitioned to his crib because he got so used to sleeping snuggled up, the sides of the Rock and Play sorta snuggle the baby. I know a lot of moms don't have this issue but we did, and still do, DS is 16 months and won't sleep unless it's between DH and I and it's a nightmare. We tried CIO and everything to no avail.

ALSO, my sister had one for my niece and she called me up saying that she removed the top piece to wash it and there was mold between the top piece and bottom piece that does not come off. My niece would some times pee through her diapers so my sister thought that maybe she wet herself one or two nights and it dried before she woke up so that's how the moisture got there. I checked mine after she said that, DS never wet through a diaper before, he pees once and wakes up screaming. I took the top piece off and sure enough I had mold on the bottom piece as well. DH tried removing the bottom piece but it doesn't come off and it has that hard piece in there so I don't see how you could wash it. We tossed it, I didn't like the idea of something that had mold on it where my baby sleeps and how would I clean that off, spray bleach on it? Then how would I get the bleach off?

I googled Rock and Play mold and a lot of people had the same issues. Gross. Sucks because I loved the thing SOOO much! I have no clue what I am going to use for DS#2...maybe just the swing? Ugh
