Has anyone roasted red peppers on their stove before? Not sure how to accomplish this...

Re: Roasted Red Peppers
I do it all the time.
I usually buy the peppers when they are on sale and all you have to do is this:
wash them, put them in a metal baking pan (disposible is fine too) and put the oven on 350. Every few minutes turn the peppers (the actualy peppers, so that the other side of the skin is touchiiing the pan, KWIM?). It should take anywhere from 1/2 hour to an hour at most. You will know when peppers are done bc skin starts turning black in certain areas and falling off. Take them out adn let them cool a bit. The skin should come right off when you try to peel them. Also take the stems off and get the seeds out. I usually freeze them and then prepare as I need them.
HTH!

Re: Roasted Red Peppers
My mother makes them right on the flame on the stove, once they blacken she takes them off and peels them right away - that is why we call her asbestos hands! LOL

Re: Roasted Red Peppers
I do them on my gas BBQ all the time, I love the smell of them and the taste of home made ones. Jamie Oliver always does them on the gas flame...

This is how I do it. Except I put them in a brown paper bag once they are off the stove to help with the peeling part.

Re: Roasted Red Peppers
Drama on the food board....that doesn't happen often.
I think it works better on the stove if you have a gas stove. I do them in the oven since i have an electric cook top/oven.
