Re: RN
I believe you can get an Associate degree in nursing which is about 2 years. I think Nassau and Farmingdale have nursing programs. The RN I work with said starting salaries are about $60,000ish. She has a BSN and is in admin now and makes close to $90,000.

Re: RN
My mom has an AA in nusring not a BSN and she makes 6 figures. she has been doing it for 6 years. it all depends on where you work and how much you work and if you can get overtime too. the only problem is now, most hospitals are starting to only hire RN's with a BSN. I know stonybrook is one of them. best of luck to you its a wonderful profession.

Re: RN
it takes 2 years MINIMUM to become an RN. Full time it usually takes an average person with any sort of life.. 3 years. there are just too many prereqs to get out of the way to do it in 2. you wind up with an associates degree.. as the above poster said.. many hospitals are trying to hire BSN nurses but there aren't enough of them to go around. the nursing shortage is just too great. the average salary for a full time nurse right out of school is 65,000 a year. not enough in my opinion for giving up every other weekend and holiday.. it's a very rewarding profession but we work very hard. FM if you want more details.
