Risk for downs

I just got back my bloodwork. The nurse said I am not at an increased risk. However, the only number I was surprised at was that I was 1 in 314. I feel like that number doesn't sound too promising. Anyone have similar numbers? She said that due to my age, it was fine. I'm going to be 35 in 2 weeks.

Risk for downs

I had a one in 94 chance and I was very alarmed. We had the maternit21 test done and everything came back normal thank God! It's very scary but so many people have gotten false positives from the NT scan

Re: Risk for downs

My initial #'s came back at 1:128. Then, they found a spot on her heart during an ultrasound, which is a soft marker, bringing the # down to 1:64 or something like that. I was freaking out (I was 37 at the time), but everything turned out fine.

Re: Risk for downs

Mine came back as a 1 in 13 or a 7% chance of our baby having ds. We opted to do a CVS and everything is fine.

1 in 314 basically means you have a .003% chance of the baby having ds, so the odds are definitely in your favor.

It is very scary but one thing I have learned from these boards is that more often than you would think people get these kinds of results from the NT scan and we all stress out and then everything is fine. The NT is all based on averages and then throw in our age, some blood work... and they come up with a ratio, nothing concrete.

If you are still concerned call your doctor and see if they will do additional testing so you can get it off of your mind. Better to know for sure and not be stressed!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon
