Rise of the Jack o Lanterns?

Anyone been? Thinking about getting tickets and not sure it's worth it- would be for me, DH and DD who will be 10 months then.

Apparently the Blaze in Westchester is amazing- is this just as good? We have family and friends who go to that one so we could go with them but honestly not thrilled with the idea of trekking to Sleepy Hollow if I don't have to.

I have been to the one on LI a few years ago. Honestly, I didn't think it was all that special. It was fun but I wasn't wowed. We got tickets on LivingSocial with a big discount. I would have been pretty pissed if I paid full price.

I went three years ago. It was fun, but I think my tickets were only $10. I don't think I'd pay full price for it. I saw they have a groupon now.
I have heard the Blaze is better, but I've never been to that.

Ugh, the discounted tickets are only if you go later at night. It's $55 for the 2 of us (DD is free). I spend money on stupid crap all the time but for some reason I'm hesitant with this!

I have never been, but we did go to the Blaze last year, and I wasn't really impressed. Took forever to get into the parkring lot. Most of the displays looked just like ones I had seen friends post pictures of from the Rise. I think they all use the same company to carve their fake pumpkins. Very few real pumpkins on display (understandably since they would rot quickly). So, I would stick with the Rise rather than drive to the Blaze.

I happen to like Rise. I have a friend who swears by Blaze but I have no desire to trek that far. We get discounted tickets and go right here in Westbury. My DS loved last year, and was already asking for this year. I thought it was pretty cool but maybe I'm just easily amused, lol.

We went last year. It was cool. But wouldn't need to do it again.

I love the rise! If you're able to do a late night, the tickets are alot cheaper. We went at like 10pm for the last couple of years, but now we have our dd and are paying full price for 6:45pm. I think it is worth it, though. If you walk really fast and don't take the time to really enjoy it, then it won't be worth it. We walk nice and slow

We went last year for the first time and bought the tickets through groupon. It was ok and we all agreed that we wouldn't do it again. I especially wouldn't pay full price for it. My brother has been going every year with his family and they love it.

This was exactly how I felt about it. If it were better organized or less crowded I would like it much better. People are free to just stop and block the displays for as long as they wish. When we went DD was in a stroller and often couldn't see the pumpkins due to hoards of adults who wouldn't get out of the way. It was frustrating. I'm also the type that doesn't like crowds and there were too many people there IMO.

It's worth doing once at a discounted rate.

We went the first year. It was cool to see the pumpkins but like people said, some people sat in front of the displays and things got backed up. I'm glad we went but wouldn't go again.

I like it. It isn't something that I will go to every year...I think I've gone every other year. I wish they would add more of a spooky element or an optional scary area or something. I get that it is a walk through the dark in the woods, essentially, but that isn't really scary when there are literally hundreds of other people around you lol.

I took DD last year for the first time. We loved it. I can see it being one of those things that gets stale but as long as she's into it we'll go. We don't live on LI and this is closer than the Rise. If someone was going to do a day trip- visit Cold Spring, pick apples, etc, this could be a fun way to end the day.
