RIP Pontiac

If you haven't heard by now GM plans on discontinuing the Pontiac line.....

A spokesman for the Detroit auto maker told the paper that the company hasn't yet made a final decision on the future of Pontiac.

In March, the average Pontiac sold for 22% below the sticker price, compared with an industry average of 16%, the Journal reported, citing the industry-data provider Edmunds.

GM faces a June 1 federal deadline to restructure or file under the bankruptcy laws. The company must make sharp cuts to gain continued government financing, the Journal reported.

GM also is working on plans to sell or close the Saturn, Hummer and Saab divisions, the Journal reported. GM closed its Oldsmobile division in 2000.

Pontiac's classic cars include the GTO and the Firebird.

I say getting rid of the Hummer should be top priority! Why get rid of Saturn??? Maybe it will go solo!

Yes, it's just being put out there and nothing is set in stone! DH was just at a dealers meeting this past week on Tuesday. The media jumps on things so quickly....

I will say this though - and for the powers to be, this is in no way advertising - but the Pontiac line has been in DH's family since 1945, for 3 generations. It would be sad to see it go. Chat Icon

Re: RIP Pontiac

I agree with the OP about hummers... they need to go pronto.

I'm also surprised over saturn... I see quite a few saturns on the road...

admittedly, I don't see many pontiacs these days........ Chat Icon
