Rice & Beans?
I know this is probably a dumb question, but how do you make rice & beans? do you just cook the rice, warm the beans and mix it together??

Re: Rice & Beans?
I make my white rice in a rice cooker.. and than for beans I buy the beans that they sell in the hispanic aisle, but the one that says "x beans in sauce".. I bring 1/2 cup of water to a boil than add the can of beans and add some extra ground pepper

Re: Rice & Beans?
I usually make yellow rice on the stove and then fold in my beans. I use canned beans because I'm generally to lazy to rehydrate the dried ones! I will sautee onion and garlic in a little pork fat then put the beans in and warm them and add my tomato sauce before marrying them with the rice. This lets me give Rob rice without beans because he HATES them. I usually use black beans or sometimes pintos or pink beans.

Re: Rice & Beans?
I make rice and peas (like Caribbean style)
I am not a recipe follower, but I saute my rice in some oil, then add half water, half coconut milk, some crushed garlic, some thyme (fresh preferably) and a drained, rinsed tin of kidney beans. Then I let it cook like I would do with normal rice. I usually serve it with really spicy jerk pork chops (mouth watering)

almost something similar, but I use black beans, omit the coconut milk and cook the rice with some bacon fat! I also but some fresh bacon pieces in with the beans.
