returning to work-did anyone plan
on returning to work and change their mind last minute I am due back soon, and suddenly I feel terrible leaving my baby. my DH grudginly said I can stay home but it's going to be tight. I always said I def. want to go back to work , now all of a sudden I feel differently. plus I would feel so bad telling my boss
anyone else go through this?

Re: returning to work-did anyone plan
I went through this to. I had told my boss I had no idea what to expect, and we took it day by day. I ended up staying home for 5 months....I HAD to go back when I did due to our business approaching busy season, or I might have taken another month. Although my bank account would disagree!

Re: returning to work-did anyone plan
see part of the problem is that I told them I would def. be coming back bc I never saw myself staying home. but now I feel like my heart is going to break, I keep getting upset and I'm not due back for a few weeks yet! I know everyone goes through this, it's just so hard.

Can you go back part-time? I ended up resigning my FT job, and just work about 15 hours a week now.

Re: returning to work-did anyone plan
I am in the same boat as you. I never saw myself staying home because I love my career and worked very hard to get there and I do love my job.
I am extending my maternity leave because I can't imagine leaving DD for 8 hours everydayjust yet. we'll see how I feel in Febuary.....
Can you work part time maybe? Dh brought up the idea of me working per diem or part time, maybe that will be better.

Re: returning to work-did anyone plan
I have to say I think most working moms go through this.
I know for me, I love my career, the track that I am on, the people I work with etc. I never thought I would want to be a SAHM.
However, while I was home on maternity leave I started to doubt our choice and could see myself as a SAHM.
I still decided to go back to work and while it was hard, after a few weeks, it is not nearly as hard as you think it is going to be.
It's something you don't really understand until you go through it I guess. I remember thinking, "How can I leave my kid for 7 or 8 hours! ". But then you get through it and you eventually see the benefits that you, your kid and your family get out of it and you focus on that and realize you made the right choice for your family. And if you didn't you can always change your mind-it's a woman's prerogative
I still sometimes think of going the SAHM route from time to time, but mostly I just like where my family is right now. Good luck-it's tough
