Returning a car seat

I received an Eddie Bauer convertible car seat at my baby shower in July 2013. It wasn't on my registry and a gift receipt was not given. We held on to it assuming we would use it in DH's car. Well we finally installed it a few months ago and I'm just not happy with it. We've tried everything and it just doesn't seem to fit tightly in the car. DD has used it a few times, but I'm nervous that it's just not safe enough. I know the seat came from Target. Do you think I can still return it?

Returning a car seat

Did you try having it installed by somebody certified?

Returning a car seat

Hi!! I am a certified tech and I'd be glad to help you troubleshoot! !

First, what Eddie Bauer seat is I what car are you putting it in? Also how old & big is your LO??

with no receipt and over a year lost on the manufacture date and it being used I doubt anywhere will take it back.

If you'd rather PM thats fine too!!

Re: Returning a car seat

I don't think any store will take back a used seat. I would try to see if a certified tech could help you get it installed correctly. Since it was a gift and didn't pay for it maybe you could buy a new seat. I'm sure the girls on here could recommend something if you tell us the type of car you drive. There are many seats that are very affordable that work well in many different types of cars.

No offense, I think it's kind of rude to return it now since it has been opened and used and it's a car seat, which is a safety concern. Not sure anyone would take it back, at least not for any good chunk of money. Maybe you could donate it and buy a new one?

Re: Returning a car seat

No offense taken, but not sure why it's rude. I wouldn't try to return it as if it was never opened. I would tell them it didn't fit safely in my vehicle. I know stores take back certain used items and just write them off. Obviously, I could just buy a new one, but if I could get some type of credit that would be helpful. It's not like I did something wrong here and car seats are not cheap.

Even if she returned it, the store would return it to the manufacturer since it was opened.

I wouldn't return something from2013. Why not try and sell it on a buy sell site.
