Results from my 37 wk appt!
So I'm a fingertip dilated and 50% effaced. But, she said the baby's head is still floating pretty high so she laughed and said, "I'll see you next week". Oh well...i'm bummed cause I was hoping his head would have at least descended by now, but no such luck.
I told her that DH and I discussed what she mentioned 2 weeks ago about a scheduled c-section at 39 weeks (because my baby is GINORMOUS already) but we decided that we didn't want to do that and that I wanted him to at least go full term if I don't go early on my own. If I hit my due date and there's no marked progress and he's still way gigantic, we'll start a new discussion. But for now, looks like Baby Ruby is staying put.

some progress is better than no progress...hang in there. I think you made the right decision to hang on a little longer.

hang in there-- at least you are dilated AND effaced. The baby will works it's way down when it's ready... I assume anyway. What do I know?

sometimes babies don't descend until labor hits! i wouldn't be discouraged, sounds like you are making great progress!!!
glad you came up with a plan with your OB about the c-section (or not) that you're comfortable with

Re: Results from my 37 wk appt!
Thanks ladies. I really really really want to have this baby as naturally as possible. I realize with his size this may not be as possible as I would like, but I was discouraged at first when her first suggestion was to schedule a c early. After researching more (with the special help of Maria ) I decided that I want to make that a worst case scenario and at least be allowed to go full term with my gargantuan and see what happens. I didn't think I'd have guts enough to actually tell her that but I did and she was totally cool with it, so I was happy.
But yeah, I guess progress is progress.

Progress at 37 weeks is great! I'm glad you didn't give into pressure to have a scheduled C if that isn't what you want.

Re: Results from my 37 wk appt!
Start walking!!! My midwife said at 37 weeks I'm suppose to start walking 30 minutes a day 3-4X a week. The rocking motion and walking is what will help the babies head to descend into the pelvis.
You can also start taking evening primrose oil tablets to help the cervix ripen!!!
don't fret! A lot can happen in teh next few weeks!
Also, ask your yoga instructor is she has any positions she reccomends to help the babies head descend!!

I didn't have any progress at all until I went into labor with my daughter! You could have none at all & go into labor tomorrow or be dilated to 3 for weeks! Good for you for sharing your wishes & not getting pushed into the c-section. I hope you get the natural birth you want
