restaurants in lower Manhattan

Would anyone recommend a good restatuarant in lower Manhattan, preferably Italian ?

DH and I are meeting out of town friends after they visit the 9/11 memorial, and we looking to go out to dinner afterwards.
I haven't been in the area in years, so I don't know where to go.

TIA !

How "fancy" do you want?

We've had a few nice lunches at Ecco on Chambers Street in Tribeca.

A lot of my friends also recommend Harry's Italian Pizza Bar on Gold Street - it's more basic italian and pizza.

I work in the area. There is a yummy thai place called Lemongrass grill. Not too expensive. Capital Grille for steak/ seafood and Del monicos for steak. More pricey. If you want a view, battery gardens is right by the water.

Can't really help you with italian, sorry. Chat Icon

Giginos is good. They have a location in Tribeca (on Greenwich) and a location in Battery Park.

Il Giglio (on Warren St) in Tribeca is also very good.

Re: restaurants in lower Manhattan

Thanks all.

It doesn't have to be a fancy place, a good old sauce joint (as our out of towners put it) would be good.
i don't know what's left of Little Italy that would be good but not touristy.

Il giglio is amazing but expensive and fancy.

I would suggest making the trip over to Little Italy. Could be fun if they have not been there before and TONS of italian restaurants to choose from. i would just research those beforehand so you don't go to a tourist trap on accident.

Villa Mosconi is delcious and reasonably priced. It's Northern Italian cuisine - I recommend the gnocchi al pesto or the homemade ravioli...yummm

It's not fancy but you're not going there for the decor. The food is cooked by the owners wife & sister.

Villa Mosconi

There is also Monte's - they are owned by the same family (2 brothers own one each).

Monte's

Thank you ! These are perfect.
I haven't been to Villa Mosconi in 25 years, since my college days.
