Something with good food and a room that is separate.
American or italian food would be preferred

MacArthur Park on Maple Ave in Rockville Centre is nice... Great food..

LaParma - used for my son's communion and everyone raved about the food. I used upstairs private room but I think min is 40 people. They have rooms downstairs - I am sure something is workable. I think I paid about $50pp.

Lawson Pub in Oceanside has a private room (but for day parties only). George Martin as a private room upstairs that holds about 50 people.

I have been to parties at both never hosted so I don't know the prices.

I had trouble finding a place in oceanside that would give us a private room for a smaller group and I believe we were around your size (but maybe just 20). We wound up going with Alias Smith & Jones. It was fine. I don't remember the food being amazing but it wasn't awful either. Don't recall the price either but I think it was fairly reasonable for what you got.
