Republicans
There will be No "checks and balances" as we heard there would be if Trump wins. Republicans have won control in the House and Senate! This is for 2 years!
I am more worried about this than Trump winning. Is anyone else with me?

Terrified for my daughters. If the ACA is repealed and there is no more pre-existing condition mandate, how will my younger daughter get insurance?

This is why I turned in my party card. I'm tired of both of them. I vote based on what is best for me on the facts and track record. I vote local and I think we need term limits in congress.
Trump or Hilary either way they both are crappy and congress is going to fight to keep things just as they are PERIOD. THEY don't want any change what so ever. They are going to fight as hard as crap to make sure he doesn't make too much change to politics as usual. They'd have fought her as well. THAT is what I see.
Presidents don't make laws, congress does.

Checks and balances will exist, regardless if republicans or democrats "hold control" doesn't mean much. Not every republican is prolife just as not every democrat is pro choice. Everyone lumps those in the senate and house into one group or the other, remember individual people make up the house and senate and while yes, they affiliate themselves with a party, and many do indeed have some similar views, there aren't 51 people in the senate in the Republican Party with the same view. Look at the election- every democrat running for the presidency had different views, as did every republican.

I totally understand how this happened too - since Clinton won the popular vote. Many people couldn't vote for him, so they chose her and then went red the rest of the ballot.
But then the electoral college did what it does, while the rest of the ballots are a direct vote.
I am hoping beyond hope that he shows his true not-really-a-Republican colors.

If you have your insurance through work it was never really a problem. It was private insurance that was denying prior to ACA.
That will have to be vetted as while I hate Obamacare I do think pre existing conditions need to be covered by insurances. Also, if the medical need is great, she can also get Medicaid from now for life.

I actually believe that he will. I think that he is a lot more socially liberal than he portrays himself to be at the moment. I think that he will surprise a lot of people.

The reality is, a President doesn't have complete control of anything and cannot make sweeping changes all on his own. Plus, four years is NOT a lot of time to get things done so the reality is, it's unlikely he'll do much.............even with all Republican control.
Let's face it, if we've learned anything in this election it's that his doesn't have much of his own party's support so getting them to go along with all of his half wit ideas will be a challenge for him. I doubt much will change under him and he'll likely go down as one of our most worthless presidents.
2020 will be here before you know it!

If you have your insurance through work it was never really a problem. It was private insurance that was denying prior to ACA.

If you have her on private insurance now, she can't be removed for LIFE if she is disabled- that was in place long before ACA so make sure you understand the facts with that. Also if it's a developmental disability, she is entitled to Medicaid, an EIOD if you have one can help set it up. If you don't, FM me and I'll give you the info on how you can set it up for her. Even if she has Medicaid, you can keep her on your insurance, again, for life, my adult residents, who have had a disability long before ACA, some are still on their parents private insurance. Medicaid is undergoing reform to managed care, which isn't the best and has been denying those disabled basic needs and medications which our field has been battling over a year with now. Private insurance is the way to go and has been the way to go for many years. My brother was diagnosed with a brain tumor about 16 years ago- he is not disabled, however, health insurance has never denied him anything. It wasn't until changes in private insurances due to ACA that he experienced denials and out of pocket costs unfortunately. He is still on my parents insurance, and can be for the life they have the insurance. If in the future my mom retires (she is policy holder) he is entitled to Medicaid though he's not disabled because of his condition, the state views him as disabled.

What scares me most is the Court-Packing that could happen under his administration. Scalia's death (which I have my own conspiracy theories about anyway) has left a gaping hole open for, which we now know will be a super-Conservative judge. There is so much talk of overturning the historic decision of Roe v. Wade and Marriage Equality.
Honestly, I am not usually one who panics, but this has me shaking in my boots.

Exactly. 59 open positions or something lime that. All those that Obama appointed will be gone. Good news is that Obama is permanently protecting Planned Parenthood.

Based on the names I have heard floating around for his cabinet, I am not so sure. Plus with Pence as his VP....
I think he has too many republican enemies to get away with as much... as well as not even really being republican himself.
