Renting prices - what would you pay...

What would you pay for a 3 br, 1 ba house in a neighborhood with lake rights, brick house (ranch) on .22 acre (but backyard is unusable since it slopes, but decent front yard), all repainted and new EIK (very big), DR, den and new bath. No driveway but room to park 3 or 4 cars in front of home. Good school district, 10 minute drive to 2 malls. Not the best area to commute to NYC but can be done (2 hours each way by train, 1.5 hours if driving). Just curious what people would expect to pay per month. Thanks.

totally depends upon the neighborhood. I can only speak about 3 village (stony brook / setauket / port jeff) rent prices, since I've rented here for 7 years now...

what you're describing would probably be 2k a month... but our rentals are high priced, since the university provides a lot of renters (that home would likely be occupied by a prof on sebatical over here...)

I think the south shore / suffolk would be less, and nassau it could be either similar (2k) or more, depending upon where... a really $$$ neighborhood in nassau it could reach 3k.....

I would say much higher than this. At least $2500

Probably $2000-2500 but it depends on the town.
