rental listing?
Any advice on where to list it? I may use a local broker but would like to try listing it first since there are a few broker listings in my development right now. I have someone who will run a few credit checks for me. Is craigslist a good place to start or am I going to attract the wrong people? I appreciate any feedback. It is a 2 bedroom/1 bath condo in Coram in case anyone interested FM.

I have been on both sides using craigslist, the renter and the landlord and had positive experiences...i would try it, it's free and you have nothing to lose

rental listing?
I found 2 apts on Craigslist. One was through a broker and one was through the owner directly.
Both good experiences.

Re: rental listing?
Yes, I think that using Craig's List is the best option if you are not going to list it.
But keep in mind that listing it with a real estate agency also doesn't cost you anything as the landlord. On Long Island, it's customary for the tenant to pay the broker's fee. So why do the work if it won't cost you anything to delegate it to a real estate broker?
I wouldn't worry about other units being listed in your development. If anything, it could help drive traffic to your rental... if someone comes to look at one, they'll look at all. And if someone wanted another unit and it becomes unavailalbe, they may take yours. I would view that as a positive.
If you list with a broker, you will get broader exposure (our rental listings go out on major real estate sites like Zillow, Trulia, etc. as well as MLS). And, personally, I think there's a safety component to it. Anyone can call you off of Craig's List and arrange to meet you at your rental and you have no idea who they are or what your agenda is. If a property is listed, then all prospective tenants will be accompanied by a licensed real estate agent.
But that being said, a lot of people have success through Craig's List, so it's all about your comfort level.
Good luck!
