Remodling the inside of the house, but landscaping

When you decide on a remodeling company to remodel the inside of your house, do you use the same company for landscaping, siding, windows etc?

Can I use another company? I am starting to get bids for the inside and thought they'd do the outside too but I think I am mistaken.

TIA!

It all comes down to $$$.. if it's priced right and they do good work, then why not. but I have found through my own experience, that most of these onestopshop companies usually charge more, so it's less expensive for me to just cut out the middle man and find those other vendors myself.

That is what I thought. My problem with the inside is I need a lot of things gutted...

I have two kitchens, 3 full and 1 half bath gutted, new floors, carpet, probably siding...I have a ton of work on this house to do. So I feel like I need one contractor to keep things on the page and style.

Its my MIL's house we are moving in with her and making her an in law apt in the basement.

She has not had anyone come fix anything in the house in over 10 years! I can even start to tell you the amount of work it needs.

I would worry about the inside first, then work on the outside.Chat Icon

Re: Remodling the inside of the house, but landscaping

If you could find someone really reliable to do all the work on the inside, then go for it, but we hired just one contractor to do all our work (kitchen, hardwood floors, gas conversion & roof). Big mistake. The general contractor is just the middle man and he hires subcontractors to do the work. Well at least in my case this is what happened. We would have saved money if we had found each of the contractors on our own. It's not easy to coordinate it all, so that is why we went with one contractor. But all the way through the process we had to keep getting them to fix things the right way or at least the way we wanted them. Just be careful hiring someone, no matter who you hire. GL!
