Register for travel system or separate pieces?
It's about $30 cheaper to register for the Chicco travel system rather than the car seat and stroller separately. But would it be better to give the guests the option of getting one or the other instead of one big priced item?
What would you do?

I would ask myself which I liked better and go with that. I liked the whole travel system thing personally.

Re: Register for travel system or separate pieces?
We registered for a travel system- and I was a little worried that we would have to end up buying it ourselves, but we didnt! We got it at the shower!

Re: Register for travel system or separate pieces?
well eventually I do want both pieces of the travel system. Its the Chicco Cortina, and its either sold as one, or sold as a car seat and stroller separately.
So should I give the guests the option of getting either piece, or just stick with the two in one? Either way, it's the same travel system. I just don't know which way to register for it.

We registered for the travel system. Just liked the idea of it together!

Re: Register for travel system or separate pieces?
I would register for it separately that way if someone wants to get it for you price is not a deterent. There may be 2 people more likely to spend $150 each then one person willing to spend $300 IMO. You can then return it after the shower get the travel system and keep the $30 credit for diapers formula etc.

I disagree. Register for it together. I think you are more likely to get both pieces then since it comes as one thing.
Plus you can save money that way. They always cost less together than separate. And what if one person (mom, MIL, sister, best friend, etc) wants to buy the travel system.

Re: Register for travel system or separate pieces?
I would just register for what I really want and see if anyone buys it. I don't really want a travel system, so I will register for them seperately.

I registered for separate coordinating pieces because I wanted a specific carseat and stroller

Re: Register for travel system or separate pieces?
i registerd for seperate pieces bc i didnt like the fact that the poorly rated safeseat carseat was in most travel systems. i got both off my registry so i was happy.
plus i felt there was a better variety and my pieces ended up matching anyway.

Re: Register for travel system or separate pieces?
All of the travel systems were too bulky for me so I went w/ a Graco Snugride, Snap and Go Frame and Mclaren Lightweight Stroller. I wasn't expecting to get the Mclaren since it is pricey but my BIL & SIL got it for us.

We registered for individual pieces rather than the entire travel system.

We are leaning towards registering for the travel system. I think it's just personal preference.

Re: Register for travel system or separate pieces?
I registered separate only because mine didn't come together. In your situation, I think I would register for the travel system--you never know...people are very generous and even if one person doesn't get it, maybe 2 or 3 will go in on it together.

Re: Register for travel system or separate pieces?
I think some posters aren't getting what you mean with the separate v. full system - you may want to revise the original post.
Anyway, I would look at it like I did with my bridal registry. I didn't register for the whole 12 place setting china, I registered for 12 individual place settings. I personally would put each on separately. If someone wanted to get you both, I'm sure they'd just look to get the full system and save the thirty bucks but at least this way you're giving people the option.

But what if someone buys the travel system and it isn't on the registry? I mean, if I was to buy both a carseat and stroller for someone that came as a travel system, I'd buy the travel system and save the $30! So, say I buy it, then someone else buys just the car seat or just the stroller b/c my gift wasn't on the registry as a travel system?
It happens. My MIL and my sister both bought my travel system b/c for some reason it was never taken off my registry the first time someone bought it. Yeah, it is fine to return one, but just another THING you have to do.

I did revise it a few posts down from the first, maybe people didn't read that one.
