refresh my memory please- re: newborn stomach issues

DS is 2wks old. He is not spitting up but is in pain after feedings. He is formula fed. It looks like gas to me. My other son had reflux and it isn't resembling his symptoms. DS2 isn't nearly in the pain DS1 was in, nor does he spit up or have wet burps often. DS2 issue is primarily gas and a LOT of constipation and hiccups. I know this is par for the course because of the immaturity of their digestive systems but is there anything else I can do? Am I forgetting anything? We have his well visit tomorrow but my ped doesn't really suggest switching formula or meds. She says every baby has belly issues and has to grow out of it- so I need to be my son's advocate if need be.

We put gas drops in his bottle. We switched to sensitive formula.

How long does it usually take for their bellies to start regulating? I think I've blocked this all from my memory because of how horrific DS1 was with the reflux.

Thanks for any insight!

i dont think there is much you can do aside from gas drops. you may want to call your pediatrician and see if they want to test for a milk protein allergy - we tested DS at 2 months old, it was negative. retested at 3 months old and it was positive so we had to switch him from gentlease to nutramigen. 2 weeks may be too soon to test though Chat Icon

I was also going to suggest having his poop tested for milk allergy. Good luck! Hope he feels better soon!
