Reflux getting better then worse?
DD is 13 weeks. She was diagnosed with reflux around 5 weeks. She has been on Maalox 3x a day and Similac for Spit Up. She was doing pretty well.
Last week it was taking her forever to finish her bottles so I switched her to the Medium flow nipple. She also got the rotavirus vaccine last Monday.
Starting Tuesday she has been drinking the first 1/2 of her bottle totally fine. She burps like a champ and then when I try to give her the rest of the bottle she cries like crazy. I can give her the paci and she is fine but as soon as I switch back to the bottle it's another screaming fit.
I tried switching her back to the slow nipple thinking maybe the medium flow was too fast, but she is doing the same on the slow.
Any ideas what could be going on? It's been a week of this now and it's every bottle.

Reflux getting better then worse?
This was happening to me too. She probably need a higher dose of the med now that she has grown.

Anytime my dd got a vaccine she was worse for about a week...it never failed. Also if she is on meds, as she gains weight the doses may need to be adjusted.

This happened to us too. We had to increase his medicine (he's on zantac). Also we stopped breaking up the bottle to burp him. We let him take the whole bottle and then burp him with an increased mL in his zantac.

how can u give a zantac? my dd is on zantac and she doesn't like the taste and she keeps spitting it out

i totally agree. is she on a medication? if not, it sounds like she might need to be for a little additional help.

Give it right before the bottle when they are super hungry! I put my DS on his back on the changing table -- give him the zantac, and then change his diaper.
At first he would try to spit some out and gave a "face" like it was gross. Now he just sucks it down.

Thanks for the advice! I left a msg for the ped. She is on maalox. Maybe it's time to start zantac. I'll see what she recommends!
