reflux
If your LO has reflux, when does it get better? my DS is almost 5 months, 3 months adjusted. He is like a running faucet of formula. Amazingly he gains weight. I cant figure out how when all the formula comes up. It just pours out of him all day long. He is on axid. So He is not bothered by the reflux. I thought it was getting better when he started the axid. that lasted about 9 days. He gained weight so we had to increase the dose. But know I feel like he spits up even more. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? I feel like a prisoner in my home because we are covered in spit up all day.

reflux
My dd had it. She outgrew it by 6 months. We started my dd on axid and like you we had to up the dose every 2 weeks as she gained weight, she was on it as an infant because the spit up was so bad. Then it just stopped working and we kept switching medications until finally Zantac worked for her. She also had some digestive issues and when I changed her formula to Alimentum I had a brand new baby all together. So with the Alimentum and the Zantac (which I didn't have to keep upping at all) she was better within 1 week. And by 6 months she had totally outgrown the reflux. Starting solids helped too. There is light and I know how hard it is. My dd always gained weight, but she would spit up so bad it would come out of her nose and she would stop breathing. The only thing I didn't do was keep myself trapped in the house. I took mult changes of clothes and tons of bibs and burp cloths but I went out. And I highly suggest you do the same. It not only helps you it helps your baby get used to being out and about and being around people.

Re: reflux
Both my kids had it. DS had silent reflux, so he suffered more because he never spit up - it would all go back down.
DD was like your son, she was always covered in vomit as were we.
She got better and stopped around 8 months. It was around the time she really got into solids.
Hang in there - it can go away at any time. I don't think there is a set age.

Re: reflux
DS outgrew it around 7 or 8 months, I think.
If it's not bothering him and he's gaining weight, there's really nothing to worry about or do. It's normal since their digestive tracts aren't yet matured.
Also, any meds, including axid or zantac, are not meant to prevent the spitting up. It just prevents the reflux from burning them and hurting them.

reflux
Thanks. I know the meds won't help the actual amount he is spitting up. But for about two weeks it seemed like it decreased and now it is back and even more than before. And I do get out. But I have to wait an hour after he eats. And then it's a race to get back home in time for the next feeding. I get nothing done.

Go out. Put a bib on him and bring a change of clothes or two. DS spit up A LOT, and I never let it prevent me from doing anything.

I guess I feel bad that he will spit up an entire bottle on the floor of the mall or a restaurant.
the GI doesn't want to add cereal to the bottle yet he doesn't want to add a potential allergen and he his still young.

Do you use formula? If so, I highly recommend Enfamil AR. It did wonders for DS.

Re: reflux
i have a 5.5 month old. Still bad reflux. Not acid reflux though. Just a very happy spitter. He spit up all over my coat and in cvs today. I just take lots of bibs and change of clothes. It is what it is unfortunately. He goes through 10 bibs a day at daycare and I am constantly doing laundry.

reflux
DS spit up started to slow down around 6 months. Now at 7 months, he spits up occasionally, but it's so much better. I never thought it would end...
ETA: I took DS everywhere with me. I just had lots of burp clothes, bibs, and clothes. When out, I'd use a swaddle blanket as a burp cloth since ds was like a fountain.

GI doc said he was a happy spitter. DS doesn't seem too bothered by it but he does start to choke and he sounds mucousy while he is eating. So they put him on the axid. Dr said it is more of a nuisance for the parents. I gave up changing my clothes through out the day. I just say wet covered in spit up. I actually had to buy more bibs.

Im hoping it gets better by 6/7 months. He will be 5 months in a few days but his adjusted age is 3 months.
