Refininancing- where to begin?
We are hoping to get a lower rate- the current value of the house is more than what we owe and we aren't in any trouble. But the rates are down quite a bit from when we bought. Where would we start?

I would call your back and ask for a quote on closing costs and get an idea of what kind of rate you can get.
Then they'll send an appraiser (which you'll have to pay for) to see if your home is valued where it need to be to get your new rate.

I would call your bank and a few other banks and mortgage companies. We would up with a better rate/package with a mortage company.
