If you're not looking to spend a fortune, the Graco MyRide 65 comes highly recommended by Chris the care seat safety guy who installs car seats in Nassau County. You can sometimes get it on sale at Target for $100. It's a big, comfy carseat.

Re: Recommendations please - convertible car seat
Am I the only who hates the myride? I don't know. I wish I played with it more in the store. It's a lot wider and bigger than my britax. The strap btw the legs is really short and the the strap that comes over the rms and straps into the the clasp btw the legs comes very low down across her hip. And the seat is reclined alot even ff with the "feet" out. I also don't like the latch hooks. The britax buttons are easier.
Sorry. I bought b/c the reviews on here and other places are good but I do not like it.
I love my britax marathon. I have nothing negative to say about it. It is more expensive but IMO its worth it and sometimes you can get a good deal on amazon

I absolutely love my DS's evenflo symphony 65 !! It's rear facing from 5-40 pounds, forward facing with harnesses up to 65 pounds and can be used as a high back booster without the harnesses up to 100 pounds or until they out grow the seat height wise.

Re: Recommendations please - convertible car seat
Straps on the MyRide isn't short at all. You need to adjust them from the back to lengthen them. If you flip the seat over, you will see the splitter plate and see that the straps are on the shortest setting. Put them on the longest setting, problem solved.
From car-seat.org
If you extend the straps from the first loop to the last you give yourself about 8 more inches + of strap length. Seats are usually shipped set up for the lowest age/weight they can be used for, in this case it is set up for the infant setting with the infant padding (which should be out by the time they're FF)
The straps at the hip are supposed to be low across the hip/upper thigh.
The MyRide has a deep natural recline to it that is great for younger children who sleep in the car, it doesn't have the issue of head slump that many more upright seats have when FF. It's personal preference. Some kids love it, some hate it.

Re: Recommendations please - convertible car seat
The seats I usually recommend parents look at:
Graco MyRide 65 First Years TrueFit Evenflo Triumph 65 Britax Marathon/Boulevard.
All fit a wide variety of vehicles and children, are relatively easy to install and use.
The right seat is the one that fits your vehicle, your child, your budget and will be used correctly every time.

We have the True Fit and like it a lot. The only thing I don't love is that adjusting the straps rear facing is a little challenging sometimes, but overall, really like it.

Re: Recommendations please - convertible car seat
Thank you. I knew the straps have that extra room but the one btw the legs seem short. I will have to look at it again. Dd looks uncomfy in it b/c of recline and she rarely sleeps in the car so it just seems so unnatural. I will look at it again. I'm just used to the britax we don't use the myride much. Thanks again I will look it Over again. Maybe I'm missing something.
Thanks
