Recommend your vacuum cleaner
I need vacuum cleaner that can do hardwood floors and area rugs as well as my carpeting upstairs.

oxygen canister vac (the red one). it's GREAT..... very strong suction, strong brush motor, and works on everything.... it uses hepa filter bags.
If you keep the brush motor off, it's also silent (a golden feature for late night clean-ups around kids)
ours is 5 years old, and we've never had a problem

I registered for that but never got it and I have a big credit at Macys and was thinking of buying it. I love Dysons!

The Eureka BOSS series. Consumer Reports rated them as much better than any Dyson, and less than half the price! I have two of them, and they are great! The 4D Pet Fresh model can turn off the brush from the handle button for hardwood floors, and has amazing suction.

Wow good to know! I am going to look into this Eureka! Is this a bagless vacuum cleaner?

we have a reg Kenmore canister and its really great has all the attachements and it has the one for the stairs.
My parents have the dyson animal and i used it all the time when i was living there and its good but i really dont see it being any better than the kenmore I have. Im not sure how it compares in price to the one i have - im sure its alot more.

Dyson DC22 or 23.... I would suggest.... And the all new DC28 is suppose to be one really nice vacuum....

Yep I second this one! I LOVE it! I have hardwood floors and it is great and soooo quite. The brush motor is loud but it is awesome on my area rugs
I love mine it is 3 years old and still is awesome :)

I have a Dyson Animal as well, but if I had hardwood floors, I would get a much lighter vacuum. That thing is heavy. My parents have an Oreck and LOVE IT!
